Here is our latest quilted baby shoe pattern from Curbys Closet. It's a darling little dressy oxford. (It doesn't have to be dressy, it would be totally cute in fun, funky fabric too) Even tho these shoes are a little more involved. They are still fun and easy to make. Each pattern comes with full size pattern pieces for Size 1 (3-6mo.) and Size 2 (6-9 mo.). They also come with easy to follow instructions and diagrams. You can sew these up in an hour or so easy with pre- quilted fabric. You'll want to make one pair for sure or EVEN all three! They would be so darling for completing  a festive Easter outfit or for any Springtime occasion. Let's face it Oxfords are popular all year round! You can find the patterns on SALE now through April12th on our website or anytime in our etsy shop.

This entry is my 100th blog post!! If you had asked me when I started if I would ever have 100 posts on my blog,  I would have called you CRAZY!! Back then I barely checked my email and had no idea what a blog even was. Now I'm a web crazed woman! I began blogging about restoring vintage baby clothes and selling them on ebay, then added quilted baby shoes that I designed and sell on etsy, then on to baby shoe patterns  that now sell in quilt shops all over the world. While blogging about my creations at Curbys Closet I threw in a few personal party and holiday ideas and then sprinkled in a couple of entertaining/decorating and gardening  ideas too. Thanks to all of you who  stopped by and took a look see... and a big thanks for all who took the time to leave a comment. Loved them!   Now on to the exciting news.... drum roll please! Curbys Closet will be attending the Spring International Quilt Market in SLC Utah!! I am so thrilled and super excited!! I never in a million years thought that I would have the chance to go. Plus I thought that my little pattern company was just too "small potatoes" to attend a big event like that. But thanks to amazing friends and family off  we will go!International Quilt Market/Spring* May 13-15, 2011 Salt Palace Convention Center Salt Lake City, Utah Curbys Closet is booth  #1347 I hope to see all of you quilt shops, vendors and distributors there! There are many quilt magazines that I enjoy reading and getting ideas and patterns from, but this month my most favorite magazine is McCalls Quilting! And I really, really  like page 12! Are you wondering why this magazine ( the March/April issue) is so special to me? Well, take a look below... This is page 12. See anything familiar?? Yep, that's me! Well, I mean that's Curbys Closet baby shoes! Pretty exciting huh?? A good friend of mine Gina Halladay (of Threaded Pear Patterns and Quilters Buzz fame) showed the gals at McCalls my baby shoes and patterns at the 2010 Houston Quilt Festival. And a few months later here we are! I know that for some of you who's blogs, crafts or designs have been featured and articles written of you in major publications, this is probably not that big of a deal. But to little old me... it was pretty doggone awesome!! It has really boosted my sales and made February a great month! If you haven't had a chance to check out our baby shoe patterns be sure to got to www.curbyscloset.com and look around. Oh, and be sure to buy a McCalls Quilting Magazine. It's a super issue! Ok, enough with " tooting my own horn"!!

A beautiful,  fresh green Christmas tree always brings back memories of my childhood. Well... actually it was more like a sorta  fresh, scrawny Christmas tree. But it always smelled pretty good!
This year our tree is big and full and very fragrant. When the guys first brought it in I thought we lived in a pine forest! It was super strong!
Each year it's fun to load the tree with varied ornaments. Mostly from the past. ( I haven't bought new ornaments in years!) Each one has a special meaning or a sweet memory for us. Or at least for me! Guys never want to admit that.
Several years ago I began collecting frame ornaments (mostly from Aaron Bro.s) and putting pictures of family and friends inside and hanging them on the tree. This one is of our beloved Willie ( an American Eskimo dog) that passed away a couple of years ago. It's so wonderful  to see his sweet little face and remember such great times.
This one is of my adorable boys when they were little. Some days I sure miss having  little boys! But most days I don't!! lol
These are Santa Claus ornaments I painted back in the 1990's. I bought cheap ball ornaments (at Big Lots) painted them with acrylic paints and tied on a  raffia bow. They are fun and really quite easy and inexpensive to make.  So I made several dozen!
Other fun ornaments on our tree each year are:  handmade quilt stockings, glass candy canes and even berries for filler.  It's amazing how having some kind of filler like berries or babies breath really fills in those bare spots.
A  few years ago I added a couple of different kinds of  angel ornaments wooden and ceramic and birds too. I really like little red and blue birds cuz they clip on and they stay put. I just love that! Our tree may not have a real theme going or even a rhyme or reason to it. But most every thing hung on it has a special meaning to us or reminds us of one thing or another and that is kinda cool. Even tho my boys are grown they still love seeing the tree all decorated and especially love looking at all the pictures of themselves growing up through the years. So...want to add some special memories to your Christmas tree this year?? Well, find some frames and add some pictures to them and hang them on your tree. You'll love it and it makes a great conversation piece also. Merry Christmas!!

I love country roses and they are perfect for a Christmas or holiday table display.
Adding  red, gold and bright  jewel tones bring a festive feel.
Individual place settings show napkins tied with bows and vintage ornaments.
I love the cluster pearl garland around the centerpiece and candles. Happy Holidays Blogging Friends!!

This is one of my all time favorite tablescapes that I did a couple of years ago.  So I thought that I would share  a few of my pictures with you. This holiday or Thanksgiving dinner bring some soft, shabby romance to your table. Begin with the usual standard choices of candle light and roses. But then add tiny pumpkins and lots of ivy and greenery of all kinds. Don't forget a harvest pitcher or container and vintage pewter touches. And bring on the roses of all colors, sizes and shades. I absolutely LOVE roses!! Remember soft and dreamy is the key. Look around your home and pull out some of your special romantic, shabby decorative items and collectibles. Have lots of fun and use your imagination!!
